Projects & Insight

The energy market is evolving rapidly. New regulations, shifting grid capacity, growing demand for large-scale storage. Staying ahead means knowing more than the market.

On this page we share updates on Battery Energy Storage Systems, developments in the Benelux energy market, insights from manufacturer CRRC, and practical lessons from our own projects.

Australianproject (CRRC-Project)

Background:

  • The 10MWh energy starage power station is located in Perth
    West Australia.

On-site Situation:

  • The local temperature is over 50, sunburn is strong; Off-grid,
    truck charging scenario.

Main Challenge:

  • Pure off-grid project need more stable AC/DC reponse
capability. Customer has no related experience before, needs
rapid reponse and strong local support.

Solution:

  • Supply DC energy storage container, provide strong local
support team, effectively lead local integration team finish the
job and successfully accomplish the task beyond customer
    expectation.

Africa Nigeria (CRRC-project)

Project Overview

  • Background: The end – user has commissioned the energycompanytoprocure energy storage systemequipment. Theprojectislocated in Abuja, the capital ofNigeria.
  • Application: PV+ESS
  • Capacity:14MW/40MWh

Main challenge & Solution

  • Offer a 10 – year warranty. Consider after – salesserviceresponse speed and cost. Hire and trainlocaltechniciansto provide after – sales service. Key technology innovation
  • Fire protection meets IEC standard, andalsointegratesNFPA 68 and NFPA69.
  • Explosion vent panels are installed onthetopof container. The ventilation systemhas obtainedanexplosion protection simulation report inaccordancewithNFPA 69.
  • The overall fire protection design complieswithNFPA855.

Uzbekistanproject (CRRC-Project)

Background

  • The Obi 100MW/200MWh energy storage power station is located in Chirchiq Town, Namangan Province, Uzbekistan.

On-site situation:

  • The site has harsh climate with frequent heavy rain, dust and sandstorms. The power grid is weak and unstable. So the energy storage system needs grid- connected and off-grid switching funtions._x0002_

Main challenge:

  • The ESS must withstand abnormal system frequency, and have grid support, low and high voltage ride – through functions.

Solution

  • A unified control strategy of VSG and vector control effectively solve the problem. Joint commissioning with the local power grid.

Frequent ask questions

What are BESS systems used for?

For grid stabilisation, energy storage at wind and solar farms, industrial power supply, and EV charging infrastructure.

Yes. Energy can be stored temporarily when production is high and deployed later when demand increases.

For utilities, municipalities, energy developers, transport companies, and resellers of energy storage systems.

CRRC is one of the world’s largest industrial producers, developing technology for energy and transport infrastructure. This expertise ensures reliable, safe, and proven energy storage solutions.

TCO encompasses all costs across the lifetime of the system: acquisition (CapEx), installation, maintenance, and operational costs (OpEx). By investing in proven technology with a low failure rate and local service, you keep the total cost per stored kWh as low as possible.

Yes. Modern energy storage systems are modular in design and can be scaled from commercial applications to large-scale energy projects.
